The Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants (OSCPA) Educational Foundation has announced its 2022-23 Scholars – awarding $54,000 to 43 accounting students across Oklahoma.

Among those recipients is Chelsea Fivekiller, a student at Rogers State University, who was named the winner of a general scholarship.

Fivekiller, a native of Wylie, Texas, completed Intermediate Accounting I and II under Dr. Tom Carmen. His main adviser is Dr. Massoud Saffarian.

“I’m so grateful for this OSCPA scholarship because it will help me continue to see my family on weekends,” Fivekilller said. “My home with my husband and kids is in Texas, so I travel there after school every Thursday and come back on Sunday to do it all over again every week. It can be trying at times, so this money will really help me with that burden so I can focus on school and my family’s future is more stable.

The scholarships range from $500 to $4,000. In addition to the general scholarships, the OSCPA has proudly offered 10 legacy scholarships to accounting students with significant accomplishments.

Each year, the OSCPA Education Foundation raises funds through donations and fundraising.

Fellows are selected over the summer and distribution takes place the following August.

The OSCPA Educational Foundation is a 501©3 nonprofit corporation that promotes the accounting profession by providing scholarships to Oklahoma’s most promising accounting students.
