This one-year advanced qualification aims to develop internationally-minded graduates who need specialist accounting skills and knowledge, to help them pass their CPA Australia exams.

When you study this course, you will be offered courses for the subjects of the CPA program offered by CPA Australia. You will need to pass all CPA program exams administered by CPA Australia and meet all CPA Australia program requirements. You will be responsible for all fees, including subject examination fees.

You will further enhance your abilities in areas such as financial accounting, management accounting, governance and auditing. This course will help you provide high-level advice to management and governing bodies and take on leadership positions in the workplace.

Towards the end of your course, you will undertake an industry-related capstone experience, including an internship, research project or study tour. You can also attend employee presentations to expand your networks, with former companies such as Coca-Cola Amatil, Grant Thornton and Nexia.

To note: If you do not currently hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting, you should instead apply for the two-year program Master in Professional Accounting.

Professional recognition

This course is recognized by CPA Australia. Upon successful completion of this course, you will be registered as a Chartered Accountant.

This course also meets the core competency requirements of professional accountancy bodies, including Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and TO THAT.

Admission criteria

A qualification, majoring in Accountancy, recognized at AQF Level 7. In addition, you must have Curtin’s English language skills.

Curtin requires all applicants to demonstrate proficiency in English. The specific English requirements for this course are outlined in the IELTS table below.

If this applies to you, you can apply for Recognized Learning Credit (CRL), which means your previous study is recognized and compared to a similar unit in your intended Curtin course.

A successful CRL application exempts you from having to complete certain units of your course and means that you can complete your degree in a shorter time.
